WIP Update
Posted by annastan on September 23rd, 2009. Filed under: WIP.It’s been a busy couple of weeks and I think my work-in-progress is a little miffed at me. I got stuck on it and didn’t do much writing for a few days, and then I had to put it aside to work on some revisions. I think it finally perked up when my writing group discussed it a few days ago. Luckily, those lovely gals gave me some ideas to help me get unstuck; thanks to them, I think there’s hope!
The word count doesn’t care about excuses, though, and it’s looking not so different from last time.
26604 / 50000 words. 53% done!
But word count isn’t everything, I have to remind myself. Momentum is vital too, and I think I finally have mine back.
How are your WIPs going out there? What do you guys do to get yourselves unstuck?

I’m nearly a third done with my first round of revisions. Things were going well until I hit a rough patch this week that involves a fair amount of rewrite and rethink.
But hey! It may not feel good, but 53% sounds great! Over half way!
When I’m stuck, I often do just what you said. Take some time off, work on other things, bounce ideas off other people… my problem is I always want to plow ahead, so I have to force myself to step back when it’s not going well.

I need to write! That helps me every time. Butt in chair, right?
Great job, Anna!
