Seinfeld is a perfect example of the callback. They always said it was a show about nothing, but really I think it was a show about coincidences that allowed them to use the magical callback. :-)

Thanks Anna - what a great idea to apply improv to fiction! My friends, family and I use the callback all the time and it is hilarious! Seinfeld use it in every episode which, IMHO, made it so successful.

This is wonderful! I'm glad I discovered your blog. So much of this can be applied to writing fiction.

Hi, Anna, welcome back! These improv rules are fascinating--and helpful. I'm particularly interested in the callback. Yes, I can see it could go stale if overused, but if used right, wow. Thank you so much for these tips.

(Ray's post was great!)
