My Monstrous Reading List

Posted by annastan on December 4th, 2009. Filed under: Books.

For about a year now I’ve been keeping a reading list in an Excel spreadsheet. In one column, I write down books I’ve read. In another column, I write down books I’d like to read. Although I try my darndest to keep adding to List 1, List 2 continues to grow at a faster, almost alarming, rate. I think I need to accept the fact that I’ll never catch up and just be excited about the books I do manage to read.

Here are some of the ones I’m looking forward to reading:

unnameablesThe Unnameeables by Ellen Booraem

raiders ransomRaiders’ Ransom by Emily Diamand

beautiful creaturesBeautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

ashAsh by Malinda Lo

larklightLarklight by Philip Reeve

What books have been crowding your reading list? Which ones are you eager to sink your teeth into?

Have you tried Goodreads? I used to do the same thing with a spreadsheet, but I have to admit, Goodreads makes it so easy. And you can get a widget to put on your blog which is so pretty!
I just finished Beautiful Creatures a couple weeks ago. It’s a great (long) read.

Anna, I read BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, can’t wait to see what you think about it. Right now, I have EVERWILD by Neal Shusterman on my list to read next.

I was on Goodreads for a while, but then it started making me anxious. Whenever I listed a book I was reading, I felt like I HAD to finish it, even if I wasn’t enjoying it! Finally I decided an Excel list was a little less stressful. :-)

Oh I’ve heard good things about EVERWILD. I’ll have to add it to my sprawling list!

I just finished The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (and decided to buy The Magician’s Elephant for my 10 year old son after reading it. He suggested that I read Edward.) I’m reading The Golden Compass now, love it. Will finish the trilogy and then am going to read Goose Girl after reading the author’s experience in writing it.

The Magician’s Elephant is also on my list – I’ve heard great things about it. Pullman’s trilogy is great. I thought the books just kept getting better as the series went along. And Goose Girl might be my favorite Shannon Hale book, though I also loved Princess Academy. Happy reading!
