When I first started this website, I decided to try blogging five days a week. Amazingly, it was pretty easy to get into the routine of posting something every day (apparently I can babble on a wide range of topics). But while it’s been a lot of fun blogging so much, it’s also started taking time away from my writing. And now that the semester is starting up again, I’ve been feeling a bit like this:

So I’ve decided the responsible thing to do is cut down on my blogging just a bit. Instead of daily posts, I’m going to try a Mon, Wed, Fri schedule. After all, it is about quality over quantity, right? I’m hoping spending a bit less time on the interwebs will help me squeeze in some other important activities such as writing, reading, and (gasp!) housecleaning. Otherwise the dust bunnies will learn to type soon, and I’m afraid of what might happen if they get their hands on my WIP.
Have a great weekend!

Sounds totally reasonable! Here! Here!
Thanks Julia. I thought it sounded reasonable too. Now I just have to make sure my extra time isn’t wasted on Twitter!
Blogging five days a week seems a bit crazy! I’m glad you are giving yourself a break. Balance is such a tough thing to find in a writing life. I actually like giving people a few days to comment on something–people don’t always check blogs every day.
But–good for you for marathon blogging like that, five days a week. People can always catch up on your older posts if they need their Anna fix every day!
Ha, love that pic! Seems reasonable to me. This is what I’ve had to do, but sometimes blog more if something comes up.
Happy housecleaning! You can come down to Atlanta next
Heather, it didn’t seem crazy at the time, but as my schedule has gotten busier, it’s been harder to keep up. And you’re right that it can be good to let readers catch up on posts.
Karen, I probably will “cheat” and blog on off days once in a while. You can’t imagine what a disaster my house is right now. I should post before and after photos, but I think people would get scared.
I totally understand. I decided to play it safe and start with M,W,F and then if it was a breeze up to five days a week. But, so far, three is working out. We all know that writing tops the list before housecleaning! Laura
Housekeeping?? What’s that? (Just kidding.) I think writing a daily blog does keep you/me/us away from our work. Your new blog schedule sounds both reasonable and doable. Play it by ear and see how it goes.
Haha, Laura I think you’re right. Writing always comes first! The MWF seems like a good way to start.
Andrea, I definitely will play it by ear. Who knows? I might be in such blogging withdrawal that I’ll go back to a daily thing, but I have a feeling that probably won’t happen…
I didn’t know how you kept up the daily for so long! Good for you for setting yourself priorities. So organized!
I don’t blame you! So much goes into your posts, that I’ve often wondered where you find the time.
Enjoy your new schedule… oh, and the dusting. Just saying
Okay on the new sched, but don’t change who you are AKA don’t let the dust bunnies take over. If they learn to type, your WIP isn’t the only thing they could compromise.
