WIP Update and Links

Posted by annastan on May 26th, 2010. Filed under: Links, WIP.

Remember those rabbit battle cries last week? Well, they seem to be helping.  I’ve been making some progress with my revision, cutting and rearranging and adding. And as a reward, I’ve been allowing myself some time with the new draft (since shiny, new things are always more fun). I’m still struggling with the outline, but I’ve found that if I write a little and then outline a little, it works pretty well.

How are you doing with your WIP goals? Any successes or struggles you’d like to share?

And since this is such a short post, here are some writing links you might enjoy:

-Brian Yansky has a short but helpful post on Tension

Happy Wednesday!

Thanks for the amazing links. Yeah, struggle…sure. My synopsis. I seem to have such a keen eye when viewing others’ work. With my own, I just love every stinkin’ letter I typed…need to detach myself, ME thinks.

Helpful links, thanks so much. I love to tuck gems like these away in my favorites file for an occasional quiet moment of writerly study. Have a great night! :)

    Great links! Thanks. :)

Things are finally starting to go my way in my rewrite. I’m kind of doing the write then outline thing myself. It’s amazing how much of the story has changed (though the main concept is the same).

This rewrite is so much better than I ever imagined when I first set out. The POV has even changed from third person to first person.

Those are some great links. Thank you!

I do like taking a break from revision to work on something new. And like you, after writing a couple chapters the plotting gets easier.

Happy Wednesday to you too! And how did I not know you had another blog besides Storybug??

Those are great links, the Character Worksheets have been helping me a ton. My WIP was stuck (as you know) but I think I resolved the issues last night and now I’m back on fire.

Thanks for the update and the links!

Good to know you’re making progress, Anna! And thanks for the battle cry bunny, he definitely helped me finish up my revision. Have fun with the shiny new wip!!

Thanks for the links! Good luck in continuing your revisions, when the revisions are working it makes you excited about the WIP all over again.

Sheri, I feel your pain! Synopses are so darned hard to write. Good luck!

Michelle, I’m the same way. When I’m stuck or need some wisdom, I have a whole bunch of resources I can flip through to get me going again.

John, you’re very welcome. Happy writing!

Joan, it sounds like you’ve made a ton of progress – hooray! I hope things keep looking up for your WIP!

Laura, I’m glad I’m not the only one who has an easier time plotting as I go along. I really, really tried doing a chapter-by-chapter outline, but it just wasn’t happening.

Jackee, I guess I’m a sneaky blogger. :-) I’m glad to hear your WIP is back on track – good luck!

Nandini, if you ever need Warrior Bunny to make another appearance, you let me know!

Thanks, Catherine! It certainly is easier to get excited about a WIP when things are finally clicking into place!
