2012 Reading Highlights

Posted by annastan on December 31st, 2012. Filed under: Books.

I don’t know how 2012 is almost over, but I guess that means it’s time to look back at the books I most enjoyed reading this year (though they didn’t necessarily come out in 2012). I realized this year was very YA-focused for me, so next year I plan to read a bit more middle grade.

Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn’t Have) by Sarah Mlynowski

The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson

Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore

Every Day by David Levithan

Stealing Parker by Miranda Kenneally

Hysteria by Megan Miranda

The Different Girl by Gordon Dahlquist

UnWholly by Neal Shusterman

The Cabinet of Earths by Anne Nesbet

The Sinister Sweetness of Splendid Academy by Nikki Loftin

Which books did you most enjoy reading this year?

Oh and Happy New Year! I have to share this adorable song that I probably also shared last year. :-)

Oooh you read The Different Girl? I’m super excited for that one! I actually read a handful of adult (and adult non-fiction) this year, a chunk of YA, and similar to you, very little MG – going to have to add it to next year’s list. I think my favorite of 2012 was Amelia Anne is Dead and Gone.

Jillian, I was able to get a copy of THE DIFFERENT GIRL through NetGalley. The story was so intriguing and creepy. :-)

The Fault in Our Stars was a definite highlight. And I loved Wonder by RJ Palacio, and of course, My Very Unfairy Tale Life. Such a fun read!

Love the list! What a great idea. I just finished a really good one – ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD.
