What I’ve Been Reading
Posted by annastan on February 19th, 2013. Filed under: Books.I haven’t had too much time for reading recently since I’m in the revision cave again (still? always?) but here are a few books I’ve enjoyed recently (most of which happen to be sequels).
The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor
These books are full of great writing and fascinating characters. I’m looking forward to the third installment.
A Touch of Scarlet by Eve Marie Mont
I really enjoyed the first book in the series. (I mean, come on, a girl gets to be Jane Eyre for a bit! What’s not to like?) And the second book, based on The Scarlet Letter, didn’t disappoint.
The first book in the series, Ultraviolet, was full of mystery and suspense. I loved how this sequel continued the story.
I’m only about halfway through this sequel to Above World, but I’m really enjoying the blend of fantasy, sci-fi, and adventure.
That’s it for me. What have you been reading?

I’ve actually took the plunge and ordered most of the Newbery medal winners. THE BOMB by Steve Sheinkin is wonderful. He’s a school text-book writer who took the natural leap to Non-fiction MG. Wish all textbooks were written this way. You get History/Physics/Spy thriller all in one.

I’m reading SCARLET right now and really enjoying it. I also just finished this book MY EPIC FAIRY TALE FAIL. Middle grade hilarity. Ha ha.

I love Laini Taylor!!! I read Daughter, but I’m waiting to read Days when it comes out in paperback so I can buy it. It’s hard, but I want my books to match!

Mirka, I keep hearing such good things about BOMB. It’s definitely on my list.
Ha Karen, I’ve heard of that MG book you mentioned. It’s supposed to be pretty good…
Laura, I totally understand the need for book matching.
Rachel, I haven’t heard of those but I’ll check them out!
