In a future where machines have failed and set human technology back centuries, a boy named Kade struggles to learn the trade of Gadget-Making which has been passed down in his family for generations. Having the rare ability to fix the old machines is valuable, but also dangerous. A corrupt group called the Looters is kidnapping Gadget-Makers and forcing them to develop a project that will mean drought and famine for many villages, including Kade’s. When his father is captured, Kade must put his fledgling Gadget-Making skills to the test in order to rescue him, even if it means risking capture himself.
